Tour Planning: Choosing place for the tour
For a long time, we were planning for a family tour and we were looking for a tourist place. It was November, 2022 when the plan finally became successful and we choose Sajek valley, which is one of the best tourist spots in Bangladesh, situated among the hills of the Kasalong range of mountains in Sajek union, Baghaichari Upazila in Rangamati District. I’m going to share a blog about my tour in Sajek Valley where I experienced the essence of untouched nature and made memories with my family.
Journey: Starting of our tour
On 9th November at night, we started our tour from Dhaka and reached Khagrachari the next morning. There we finished our breakfast and reserved a ‘Chander Gari’ which took us to Sajek from Khagrachari .It is perfect for 12 to 15 people. As it was a family tour, the Chander gari was perfect for us.The distance between khagrachari and Sajek is about 70 km. The roads are in hilly areas with deep ditches and the roads are zig-zag.We had booked a resort named ‘Rock Paradise’ before going there and the resort was located at konglak para which is located on the top of konglak hill. The Chander gari dropped us at the bottom of Kanglak hill. When we arrived at Sajek, we were greeted by a spectacular view of cloud covered hills and a valley with it’s beautiful green landscapes and rolling hills. The people from the resort came to take our bag and baggages and we had to go to the resort by trekking the hills. Reaching in the resort, we found that the cottages were fully made of wood. we freshen up ourselves and took some rest’ After that, we go for lunch. In the evening we go for a walk.
Sajek valley: Way to beauty of hill in wilderness
Sajek valley is known as the Queen of Hills and Roof of Rangamati. It is 2,000 feet above sea level. One of the major attractions of Sajek Valley is seeing the sunrise and sunset from the top of Konglak hill. On that day in the evening, we went to the highest top of the Konglak hill and the scenario was just outstanding. Many of the tourist was coming at that time to see the view of sunset from the top of the hill. The hill was very crowded at that time.
The sunrise view from the cottage was looking very attractive. It was feeling like the sun was rising from above the sea of clouds. The hills were covered with clouds and that time feeling like we were floating in the cloud. we enjoyed the view very much and it was an amazing experience. We also went to the highest top of the Konglak hill. In our resort, there were some other cottages named ‘Megh shompan’,we went there and visit those cottages while coming back from the top of the hill.
Lushai Heritage Village: A Piece of Heaven
On that day, after finishing our breakfast, we went to the Sajek town by Chander gari. There is a traditional place named ‘Lushai Heritage Village.’ There were some shops of fruits and pickles without any shopkeeper. There were some cottages where the things were kept which was used before by that village people. Also, the traditional clothes which used to were that villagers were available there. tourists were wearing them. We also weared that dresses and made a memory with the whole family members.
Traditional foods, clothes and belongings
At noon, we had our lunch in the town. For lunch, we eat bamboo chicken which is a traditional food there. In the evening, we eat bamboo tea, which is also a traditional food. After that, we visited some shops there and also bought ‘Thami’ and ‘Shawl’ which are made by the local people of Sajek. At night, some people were dancing outside a restaurant and some were singing in the restaurant. The town was decorated with colourful lightings. When we go back from to the resort, we found some sellers selling the bamboo made things.
Difficulties we have faced in the tour
In that place, we faced some difficulties there. First of all, there was no enough water as our resort was on the top of konglak hill. Also, the water was not clean. Secondly, the cooking of that villagers was not similar. So, that was a different taste. Besides, all of the villager’s language was not familiar to us. So, we can’t communicate with everyone easily.
Sajek Valley: A tour that will never be forgotten
In Spite of these difficulties, it was a great time in my life. I enjoyed every moment there. People of that village was very helpful. The wonderful beauty of Sajek with it’s green hills is really mind blowing. Sajek has a stunning scenario. While returning from Sajek, we also visited some places in Khagrachari. Those are ‘Alu tila’,‘Horticulture Heritage Park’ ,Hanging Bridge’ etc.I’ll always remember this wonderful journey.

Mountain is a place where I find peace for the silence. I like the pictures you shared. Specially the pictures of both the sunset & the sunrise I liked the most. And I also want to taste the bamboo chicken. It seems like your journey was great!
