Ahoy, my classmates from ENG101! I am very excited to share with you that today I am going to talk about my favorite anime “One Piece”, an anime I cherish very close to my heart and can’t stop whenever I am talking about it. So let's set sail together into the thrilling world of “One Piece”, where dreams, friendship, and adventure awaits at every turn.

What’s “One Piece” all about?

“One Piece” is a manga written by the most genius writer “Eiichiro Oda”, which got an anime adaptation. Here you can find adventure, action, comedy, fantasy, and many more. So here you are getting almost the full package of emotions. This is one of the largest anime ever. It started in 1999 and is still going on.

Now to discover more about the story - let’s start with Gol D. Roger, the former pirate king, was the strongest and most infamous being to have ever sailed the seas. The capture and execution of Roger by the World Government brought a massive change throughout the world. When he was being executed in front of a huge crowd, a person from the crowd asked him, “As we all know you are the king of all pirates, then you must have a vast amount of treasure hidden somewhere. Can you tell us where it is?”. Gol D. Roger makes a big smile and answers that his treasure One Piece is hidden at on the last island of the Grand Line. It can offer you wealth, fame, and power, whatever the world has to offer. This reply was the biggest reason that brought about the Grand Age of Pirates. People all over the world started their journey to find One Piece, which promises glory and the title “Pirate King”. Now our protagonist Monkey D. Luffy is a 17-year-old boy who is not like the typical pirates we think of. Rather than the popular thinking that pirates are wicked, have lots of scars on their bodies, always fighting or stealing, and ransack villages for fun, our protagonist Luffy's reason for being a pirate is something extraordinary. He wants to set sail, make a powerful crew, enjoy the adventure, make new friends all over the world, and most of all find one piece and become the pirate king. Alongside this, he has one other goal also. He wants to meet with a certain person, who he claims is his motivation to become a pirate. This person’s name is Shanks, and he has one of the most infamous and dominating crews of this era. He and his crew are so strong that he is called one of the four emperors of the sea. More than that, he was also in the previous pirate king’s crew. When Luffy was a child Shanks came to Luffy's village with his crew and stayed there for a while. That's the time when Luffy spent most of his time with his crew. So when they were leaving the island Luffy wanted to join them as a crew member, but as he was a child Shanks didn't want to add him to the crew as the sea is a very dangerous place for a kid. So instead of taking him on his ship, Shanks gave Luffy his straw hat which is very dear to him. Then he told Luffy to turn 17 years old, set sail and become a famous pirate. If he becomes famous enough then Shanks will come to meet him and then he can return this straw hat to Shanks. And later in the story when Luffy’s crew started becoming famous, their crew started being called the Straw Hat Pirates. So to fulfill his promise and dream, Luffy and his crew are traveling across the sea, experiencing crazy adventures, unveiling various mysteries, and battling strong enemies, to reach the last island “Laugh Tale”, where it is believed that you can find one piece and become pirate king.

Why Do I Love “One Piece”?

“One Piece” is a masterpiece created by its author Eiichiro Oda. The most amazing and surprising thing about this anime is its massive world-building. Eiichiro Oda didn’t only create a whole world but also added details to every single character of the world whether it's a main character or a side character. One other thing I love the most about is every single crew member of Straw Hat Pirates has their backstory, and separate dreams to fulfill and they are all working towards it individually even when they are traveling as a group. My favorite characters are Luffy the captain and Zoro the right-hand man of Luffy. Luffy’s goofiness never fails to make me laugh and his morals keep me motivated. On the other hand Zoro’s loyalty towards his captain and best friend, Luffy always amazes me. And most importantly every single character's willpower to fulfill their dreams, no matter what sticking to their beliefs always inspires me. Though there are so many more reasons why I love this anime, these are the main reasons for it.

Conclusion
