 Clean City,Educational City And Silk City Rajshahi

Rajshahi has got the ‘Environment Friendly City of the Year 2020 award for its green look and clean air .Rajshahi is located on the north Bank of the Padma river near the Bangladesh-India border. Rajshahi is known as a clean city  ,educational city and silk city.

Rajshahi  as clean city:

People call Rajshahi a clean city . The drainage system of this city is good .The connections between the drains and the rivers are  well planned. There are many places to sit beside the bank of river Padma .Here  people sit and enjoy the fresh air and the beauty of nature. People enjoy both the sun shine and the sunset. People walk early in the morning on the footpath .The roads are wider enough. The roads and streets are very cleaned .The city corporation mayor A.H.M. Khairuzzaman Liton  has made strict rules to clean the streets of the city at night from 10 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. regularly. The city has now been beautified with aesthetic street lights.City dwellers  enjoy the eye-catching street lights of various designs on different roads. The city shines with those lights as soon as the sun sets in the west. These lights are being installed from the city Kalpana cinema hall to Talaimari at a cost of 127.49 crore as part of the road development and widening projects.

Rajshahi as educational city:

Rajshahi city is also known as an educational city. The big four  educational institutions are situated here. They are Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Rajshahi Medical College and  Rajshahi College.Rajshahi University is the oldest University of this country . The campus of Rajshahi University is very big. The campus has many trees which create a very healthy and study friendly environment for the students.  The university’s central library is one of the largest libraries of Bangladesh.The University encourages its students to do research.

Rajshahi  University of Engineering and Technology is one of the famous government engineering universities of Bangladesh. It has a big campus .The campus Environment  is research and learning  friendly . The campus has modern classrooms, well  equipped laboratories and students have access to advanced engineering softwares and tools. It encourages students to do research in the field of engineering. It has a cultural club, sports team ,robotics club which help to explore the interests and talents of the students outside the book. 

Rajshahi Medical College is one of the largest government medical colleges of Bangladesh . It has a big role in the clinical training of medical students and postgraduate residents.

Rajshahi college is the most prestigious educational institution in Bangladesh .It was established during the British colonial period .It  has a big campus where there are academic buildings, library, laboratories and administrative offices. The college has an enriched library where there are a lot of books  and reference materials .It meets  the academic needs of the students and the teachers. It has a vast  range of academic programs  for the higher secondary level students and undergraduate level students.Rajshahi college does very well in higher secondary level and undergraduate level. 

 

Rajshahi as silk city: 

Rajshahi is popular as a silk city. This city contributes a lot to the silk industry of Bangladesh. It is renowned for high quality silk  fabrics production.This region’s climate is  suitable for the Mulberry trees. Mulberry trees are the primary food source of silkworms. So, Rajshahi is an ideal place for sericulture. Rajshahi is known for producing Mulberry Silk. Mulberry Silk is highly valued for its glamorous appearance, soft texture and stability. The entire process of production is carried out in  Rajshahi .Silk production in Rajshahi has created a small - scale cottage industry and traditional handloom weaving. Many families in rural areas do sericulture in their home or small farms. The process of making silk is  done using handloom technique.

Rajshahi silk is  widely used for making silk sarees which is one of the most popular silk items. Rajshahi sarees are highly priced for their designs, vibrant colors and luxurious feeling.  People of Rajshahi wear silk sarees in traditional ceremony, wedding and cultural events .It is also a symbol of the region’s cultural heritage.The silk industry in Rajshahi plays an important role in the local economy.It creates jobs source for thousands of people in different stages of silk production. It contributes a lot to the country's textile and export industry. It helps in the growth of the economy .It has  also attracted tourists. Tourists come to Rajshahi to witness  the traditional silk   production process and to have some silk  products. Many handicrafts are made from rajshahi silk,such as shawls,scarfs and home textiles. These silk  items are popular among domestic and international visitors. 

In conclusion,Rajshahi is a clean city ,educational city and silk city.
